Seeking Dietary Aide Workers for Long-Term Care Homes in Ontario.The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of meals, ensuring work areas are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition.Reporting to the Manager and Supervisors of Food Services, the Dietary Aide will provide meal service according to the resident plan of care while ensuring a pleasant dining experience.PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow and meet all pre-determined work routines and schedules
  • Provide meal service according to resident plan of care for breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Prepare and deliver nourishment
  • Prepare tables and serving areas for meal services
  • Ensures resident satisfaction with meal service;
  • Responds to resident or family member concerns and ensures appropriate action is taken within decision-making authority and/or brings to the attention of the Food Services Manager/Food and Beverage Manager;
  • Performs the set-up, and clean-up of dining tables.
  • Effectively communicates and interacts with residents, family members, visitors and volunteers courteously and professionally. Focuses on customer service excellence.
  • Carry out all other job-related duties that contribute to the team approach of resident care as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor or Dietitian

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
  • Completed an approved Food Service Worker program or be enrolled in an approved Food Service Worker program at the time of hire.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a food service environment
  • Food service workers with institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality food service experience (in place of the identified educational/training requirements) to allow them to perform the duties required of the position may be considered.
  • A responsible and organized individual capable of performing duties as assigned.
  • Experience and knowledge of safe food handling techniques.
  • Possesses physical strength required for the position
  • Able to work shifts and weekends as required
  • Capable of reading and writing in English
