Skills/Ability/Knowledge
One year of practical experience in in long term care environment
Must be able to read, understand, write legibly and accurately follow written and verbal instructions in English.
Must be able to maintain an acceptable level of personal hygiene
Must be physically capable of completing the tasks of the position.
Must be able to work accurately, quickly and safely
Must be hard and conscientious worker.
Must have excellent attendance, punctuality and must be able to work independently
Ability to work effectively in a strong team environment
Workplace Environment:
The Dietary Aide stands and walks intermittently throughout the working day, as well as reaches, stoops, bends, lifts (from floor to waist, waist to shoulder, above shoulder), carries, and manipulates various food products, dietary supplies and equipment.
Must be able to lift and/or carry dietary supplies/ various food products, with assistance/devices and withstand exposure to changing temperature and humidity such as entering refrigerated storage areas, working at ovens, ranges, dish-washing machines, and at steam tables.
Will, at times, work in close proximity to individuals presenting with or at risk for responsive behaviours that may be associated with complex and challenging mental health, substance use and/or other neurological conditions.
POSITION SUMMARY INCLUDE
but not limited to
Assist in basic food preparation and serve meals in accordance with therapeutic diets and portion standards
Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies.
Setting, clearing, cleaning, and sanitizing dining spaces
Maintain and perform clearing, cleaning, and sanitizing duties or, as per the posted cleaning schedule for that day
Observe HACCP guidelines to ensure safe food handling / preparation methods
Follow WHIMIS and MSDS guidelines using chemicals, cleaning, and sanitizing agents
Attend in-service educational programs.
Follow defined safety codes while performing all duties.
Perform other department duties or special assignments as directed by the Dietary Manager
