Individuals who are organized and willing to be part of a team overcoming any challenges to succeed.Key Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Dining Services Supervisor, candidate is responsible for duties included but not limited to:

  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment before, during, and after service
  • Cleaning dietary equipment and working areas (e.g., mopping, sweeping, vacuuming floors, wiping countertops and other surface areas, etc.)
  • Provide excellent customer service to residents and guests
  • Plate desserts and salads as necessary
  • Set dining room tables and clear the dining room of dishes and utensils during and after meals
  • Adhere to Toronto Public Health standards
  • Participates in and contributes to the Verve Quality Improvement (VQI) program
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Dining Services Supervisor
  • Complies with Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System including recognizing health & safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation as well as participating in fire drills and other emergency procedure training
  • Effective communication, both written and verbal with co-workers, residents, and guests
  • Billing residents for alcoholic beverages and guest meals as required
  • Participates in staff meetings and in-service training within the home as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Dining Services Supervisor
Qualifications
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of serving experience
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong communication skills and observant of their surroundings
  • Ability to multitask, focus and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Can work well within a team
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Hotel or Retirement Home experience is an asset
  • Understanding of food service and preparation with a Food Handlers Certificate is an asset

Part-time hours: 10-20 per weekSalary: $17.84 per hourSchedule:
  • Day shift

  • Weekend availability

Experience:
  • dietary aide: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
  • Smart Serve (preferred)
  • Food Handler Certification (preferred)
