Job Summary



The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting in the preparation and service of nutritious meals for residents, staff, and visitors. This position requires adherence to standardized recipes, portion sizes, and food safety guidelines (HACCP) to ensure that meals are of high quality and prepared in a safe, clean environment. The ideal candidate will be reliable, flexible, and committed to upholding Participation House's Mission Statement and the Statement of Resident Rights.

Key Responsibilities



Kitchen Operations:



Open the kitchen and turn on necessary equipment. Take and record temperatures of all refrigerators and freezers to ensure compliance with safety standards.

Meal Preparation & Service:



Prepare and serve breakfast and lunch (or brunch on weekends) according to the cycle menu, following standardized recipes and portion sizes. Ensure all food items are at proper serving temperatures by taking and recording temperatures prior to service; take corrective action when needed. Collect, label, and store food samples appropriately. Prepare coffee, tea, and other beverages in advance of meal service. Portion lunch desserts and other food items for dinner service.

Inventory & Receiving:



Check, receive, and properly store all delivered groceries and supplies. Organize and maintain storage areas, keeping an accurate inventory of all items. Restock the beverage counter and ensure sufficient supplies are available.

Cleaning & Safety:



Follow daily and scheduled cleaning protocols to maintain a clean and sanitary work environment. Operate in compliance with safety standards, company policy, and HACCP guidelines. Perform all duties in a manner consistent with Participation House's Mission Statement and the Statement of Resident Rights.

Qualifications



Education & Experience:



Minimum Grade 12 education, with strong written and verbal communication skills. At least 1 year of experience as a Dietary Aide, preferably in a health care setting.

Certifications:



Successful completion of a Safe Food Handler course offered by the Public Health Department.
