Job Description

Red Oak Villa is currently seeking a Part-Time Dietary Aide to join their Food Services Team. As a Dietary Aide, you will be an integral part of our team, utilizing your core skills in food preparation and food service to assist in meal preparation and serving. With relevant skills in cleaning and sanitation, you will ensure a safe and hygienic environment. Your role will involve working with workplace hazardous materials, heavy lifting, and maintaining food safety standards. Effective communication, bilingual proficiency, and a focus on sanitation and kitchen experience are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications:



Related food service and customer service experience.

Familiarity with HACCP, WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety and Sanitation Code.

Basic understanding of kitchen cookware and appliances.

Excellent teamwork and effective communication skills.

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work well under pressure.

Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints.

High interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

Willingness and ability to learn.

Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs, stand for long periods of time and walk short distances throughout the day; ability to tolerate heat in kitchen area.

Experience working in a Retirement Home is considered an asset.

Free from communicable diseases.

Food Handlers Certificate and Smart Serve Certificate required.

First Aid & CPR certification is preferred.

Bilingualism is considered an asset.

Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (dated within 6 months) is required. 2-Step TB testing and N95 mask fit certificate is required

MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK VARIOUS SHIFTS, including days, evenings and weekends.

MUST BE LEGALLY ELIGIBLE TO WORK IN CANADA.


Responsibilities:



Create an enjoyable and pleasant dining experience for each resident of the Home.

Make the working environment for your co-workers an enjoyable one.

Perform cleaning tasks to achieve and maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the dining room and kitchen.

Maintain safe work practices at all times.

Follow established safety procedures for all food and equipment.

Be familiar with and adhere to food services policies and procedures.

Report equipment or supply requirements/repairs necessary for the efficient operation of the Food Services Department to the Manager of Food Services.

Monitor inventory and assure safe and proper storage of all food supplies; contribute to list of required items for order days as necessary.

Maintain/complete all required records and reports in accordance with policies and procedures (i.e. temperature logs, resident menus, etc).

Assist Cook and team members with preparing and cooking meals as required.

Prepare desserts and salads for service.

Serve food to residents observing special diet restrictions, resident preferences and outlined departmental procedures.

Be knowledgeable of all the residents that are on dietary restrictions.

Complete departmental cleaning.

Discard trash and remove waste after scheduled dining times.

Sets and clean dining tables and trays, load and safely operate dishwasher. Complete manual ware washing as required.

Dates, labels, and stores food properly.

Have a full understanding of and practice Infection Prevention and Control policies.

Responds to resident or family member concerns and ensures appropriate action is taken within decision-making authority and/or brings to the attention of the Food Services Manager.

Effectively communicates and interacts with residents, family members, visitors and volunteers in a courteous and professional manner. Projects an appropriate image and focuses on customer service excellence.

Be knowledgeable of and practice the facility's fire and safety programs.

Adhere to established company policies and procedures.

Work collaboratively and promote positive team spirit within the department.

Maintains good attendance record according to company policy.

Senior staff to assist in the orientation and training of new employees.

Attends departmental and Home's staff meetings, in-services and other necessary training sessions.

Perform other duties that are necessary and appropriate which may be assigned.

Pay: $17.20-$18.40 per hour
