Job Description

Dietary Aides are an integral point of contact between the residents and Highland Manor. All employees over the age of eighteen must pass police background check. Job descriptions are a guide only, there may be other tasks an employee in this position may complete at the request of a resident, family member, co-worker or manager.

Responsibility



Dietary Aides are responsible for preparing breakfast, serving breakfast & lunch, washing dishes, putting stock away and generally keeping the kitchen clean.

Core Duties



Preparing hot cereal and other items for breakfast. Making tea & coffee Serving meals Clearing tables Washing dishes Portioning the lunch dessert Setting tables Putting away food orders Taking out the garbage General cleaning Preparing desserts

Other Duties:



Training:

Attend all training sessions offered by the employer or outside agencies- complete all training packages provided by the employer or outside agencies - complete tests with a high level of accuracy in a timely manner.

Organization:

Must be organized in thought and action - keep the kitchen clean, neat and tidy.

Judgement:

Make decisions based on education, experience and knowledge of Highland Manor's policies and procedures to advocate on behalf of the residents.

Customer Service:

Interact with residents, family members, co-workers, management, outside contractors and the general public in a way that strengthens relationships - this may be in person or on the telephone.

Time Management

Working in a manner that meets the needs of the resident, regularly scheduled events and delegated tasks within the confines of the time allotted.

Staff Reporting to Dietary Aides:



None (refer to Organizational Chart)

Person to Whom the Dietary Aide reports:



Nutrition Manager or Charge Nurse

Working Hours:



Dietary Aides work every day of the week including holidays. The #1 and #2 shift are 7:00 am to 2:45 pm (7.25 hours paid) The #3 shift is from 11:00 am to 6:30 pm (7.00 hours paid). A paid fifteen minute break and an unpaid half hour lunch break are provided.

Pay: $17.80 per hour
