To support us on our journey, Sinai Health System is looking for a Diet Technician to support our Nutrition Department at our Mount Sinai Hospital Location. Responsibilities:

  • Conducts nutritional screening of assignment patients by reviewing new admissions lists, diet orders and meal rounds. Establishes a caseload based on screening, consults and patient requests:
    • Reviews medical record for pertinent medical history, laboratory and anthropometric data
    • Interviews patients to obtain diet/weight history data
    • Documents plan
  • Participates/implements nutritional care of assigned patients
  • Implements prescribed therapeutic diets/internal feeding regimes:
    • Calculates/reviews patient menu
    • Initiates nourishments as required
  • Provide counselling and education as assigned
  • Updates/revises patients menus/nourishments following change in diet order
  • Maintains/updates therapeutic nutrition cardex
  • Documents nutrition care


Job Requirements
  • Food and Nutrition Degree/diploma from a recognized University or Community College
  • Proven nutrition assessment and patient counselling skills
  • Experience in database development and management
  • Recent Diet Technician experience in a healthcare environment
  • Knowledge of safe food handling procedures
  • Excellent time manager and organization skills
  • Proven communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Experienced in CBORD diet office applications an asset
  • Active member in relevant professional association
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance record
