Job Description

Purpose and Scope: The Die Prep Technician is responsible for the thorough cleaning, inspection, and maintenance of extrusion dies and tooling used in plastic extrusion operations. This role ensures that all dies are cleaned and prepared to the highest standards before being reused in production. The Die Cleaning Technician plays a key role in minimizing downtime and ensuring consistent product quality by maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the dies.

Key Responsibilities

Disassemble extrusion dies and tooling to perform thorough cleaning and removal of all residues, contaminants, and material build-up. Use appropriate cleaning methods and equipment, such as solvents, ultrasonic cleaners, brushes, or media blasting, to ensure dies are completely clean and free from any obstructions. Inspect cleaned dies for wear, damage, or defects that could affect performance and report any issues to the maintenance team or supervisor. Perform visual and dimensional inspections of dies after cleaning to verify that they meet required specifications and are ready for reassembly and reuse. Document the cleaning process and inspection results, maintaining accurate records of die condition and any issues identified. Update the die inventory system with information on cleaned dies, their condition, and their readiness for production use. Safely handle and transport dies and tooling between the production area and the die cleaning station, following proper lifting and handling procedures. Ensure that all tools, cleaning equipment, and materials are used correctly and maintained in good working condition. Collaborate with Production Team, R&D, Tool & Die and Scheduling department to prioritize die cleaning based on production schedules and operational needs. Assist with the assembly and reassembly of dies as required after cleaning and inspection. Provide feedback on die cleanliness and condition to support continuous improvement in the extrusion process. Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and respirators when handling cleaning chemicals or performing tasks. Adhere to company policies and procedures, including safety and environmental regulations related to the use and disposal of cleaning chemicals. Participate in safety training sessions and contribute to maintaining a safe and clean working environment. Identify opportunities to improve die cleaning processes, reduce cleaning time, and enhance die longevity. Share best practices and new cleaning techniques with the team to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness. Monitor the inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and tools, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained. Ensure proper storage and labeling of chemicals and cleaning agents in accordance with safety and environmental regulations. Report safety incidents or near misses promptly and participate in incident investigations. Other duties as assigned
Job Specifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in manufacturing or a similar role preferred; experience in plastic extrusion is a plus. Strong attention to detail to ensure all dies are thoroughly cleaned and free from defects. Basic mechanical skills for disassembling and reassembling dies and tools. Experience with various cleaning techniques and equipment, such as ultrasonic cleaners, solvents, and media blasting, is preferred. Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $19.00-$20.00 per hour

Evening shift Monday to Friday
