Your Opportunity:

As the Cardiology Pediatric Echocardiography Instructor/Educator at Alberta Children’s Hospital, you will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team and play an integral role in the ongoing care of pediatric cardiology patients. This role works closely with the Medical Director of the Cardiology Clinic and will be responsible for coordination of educational needs for inter-professional teams. You will use an integrative leadership approach in assisting, planning, implementing and evaluating learner needs with respect to echocardiography imaging. This position is also be responsible for performing Neonatal and Pediatric Echocardiographic on inpatient units and in outpatient cardiology clinics. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Your demonstrated knowledge, leadership, initiative, time management, accountability, conflict resolution, critical thinking, organizational skills; ability to work independently under time constraints within a fast paced changing environment; ability to adapt your communication style to meet the needs of the cardiology clinic, children and families along with our care and attitude of respect and dignity for all persons, demonstrating a caring and compassionate manner are all required of this role. A minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Pediatric Cardiac Diagnostic Medical Cardiac Sonographer with 10 years in a leadership training/education role, is required of this position. You must hold current registration with a credentialing body in echocardiography along with current Cardiac Sonographer certification in congenital heart disease. Experience with research and research studies is also a requirement of the position. Registration with Sonography Canada is necessary within one year from the start of the position.

Description:

As a Diagnostic Sonographer II, you will coordinate the daily operations of the service area. This includes organizing and coordinating all technical and daily work activities for your team of Diagnostic Sonographer Is and other health care providers, ensuring that ultrasound services are available and operating at an optimum level. In addition, you will handle patient and staff complaints and problems related to services, maintain quality assurance and quality control programs for the area, assist in research, development, maintenance and evaluation of Sonography programs and services and assist in the development of policies, procedures and guidelines.

Required Qualifications: Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications: Current registration with a credentialing body in Echocardiography. Current Cardiac Sonographer certification specializing in congenital heart disease. Minimum of 15 years’ experience as a Cardiac Diagnostic Medical Cardiac Sonographer. Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Pediatric Cardiac Diagnostic Medical Cardiac Sonographer. Minimum of 10 years in a leadership training/education role as a Cardiac Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, including instructional experience preceptoring Medical Fellows. Experience with research programs and research studies. Preferred Qualifications: As required.
