Our Society has operated numerous diverse community and family-focused programs designed to address the unique needs of the Northwest region of Alberta since 1972. ROLE

The role of the Developmental Support Worker is to provide and help coordinate client-centered support services to individuals identified as living with a developmental disability in a residential setting. Developmental Support Workers will report to, and work alongside, the Program Manager to develop and implement individualized programs to assist these individuals in reaching their self-identified goals as well as support them in their daily life activities. They will also utilize a variety of skills and techniques to teach life and independent living skills to the individuals served in a cooperative environment.
Developmental Support Workers will adopt a team approach when supporting individuals and ensure that clients are making decisions based on personal choice and informed decision making. They will then connect the individual to services and programs in the community as needed. Must have:
  • Degree or 2 Year Diploma in Child and Youth Care, or related human services field.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License
  • Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Abstract
  • Clear Criminal Records Check
  • Clear Children\xe2\x80\x99s Service Intervention Record Check.
  • Vehicle Insurance stating $2 million liability and access to a vehicle
  • Experience as: Support Worker, Health Care assistant an asset
