Parkland County has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Development Officer I position in the Planning & Development Services Department. Reporting to the Senior Planner, Development Planning, the Development Officer I must demonstrate strong technical planning, presentation, and time management skills as this position is primarily responsible for processing development permit applications, presenting decisions to applicable Appeal Board(s), and responding to compliance certificate requests. The Development Officer I will demonstrate excellent customer service skills through regular interaction with the County's customer base, providing timely information as it relates to development processes and Parkland County's Land Use Bylaw. When required, this role will also provide backup support for the responsibilities of other team members within the unit.
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:Post Secondary Education in Planning, Applied Land Use Planning or a related discipline.
Completion of the Applied Land Use Planning Certificate is required.
A minimum of 2 (two) to 4 (four) years of experience with demonstrated ability to respond to and anticipate customer needs professionally.
Strong conflict resolution, active listening and communication skills.
Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize high volumes of work with competing timelines.
Ability to analyze and evaluate complex challenges to form effective decisions.
Knowledge of land use planning practices.
Possession of a valid class 5 driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required.
