Development Officer, BC & Yukon

Are you a collaborative and driven fundraiser who would like to contribute your skills and talents to an inspiring mission of funding research into cures and to improve the lives of people with type 1 diabetes (T1D)?

Our BC & Yukon regional team is searching for a new member to support fundraising programs and events in the region. You would have the opportunity to have a diverse fundraising portfolio with events (peer-to-peer), major gifts, corporate and foundation, and mid-level donors. The Development Officer role is ideal for someone who is looking to grow their fundraising experience in a collaborative, supportive and goal-oriented environment.

Here\xe2\x80\x99s what your primary responsibilities would be:

  • Achieve and exceed fundraising targets for peer-to-peer fundraising events through inspiring, motivating, and stewarding a portfolio of fundraisers and volunteers
  • Balance prospecting and new account recruitment with key account stewardship and development and grow and manage a portfolio of donors and prospects through the development of cultivation and solicitation plans to close mid-level gifts and major gifts
  • Implement best practices in peer-to-peer fundraising to increase participation and event revenue
  • Work closely with assigned volunteer event committees and provide support tools and communicate progress on event fundraising
  • Identify and develop strategic key account volunteers to optimize event participation
  • Build meaningful connections with donors and volunteers that result in new and diverse revenue streams (i.e. mid-level and major gifts, planned giving, corporate partnerships) that further JDRF\xe2\x80\x99s mission
  • Utilize CRM database and systems to manage relationships and accurately record interactions
  • Collaborate closely with the corporate engagement and event operations teams to achieve the overall event objective
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of JDRF\xe2\x80\x99s mission and research strategy
Here\xe2\x80\x99s what we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for:

Knowledge/Skills/Experience
  • 1-2 years of progressive fundraising experience and a University or College degree in Business Management, Fundraising, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working on peer-to-peer fundraising events
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to successfully interact with external stakeholders and staff within the organization
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, CRM databases, peer-to-peer/online fundraising software an asset
Working Style and other Attributes
  • Team player that has the ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.
  • Capable of leveraging relationships and negotiating agreements
  • High level of comfort communicating complex information (e.g. JDRF research, goals, etc.) to a wide range of audiences, from high-net worth individuals to corporate
  • Ability to proactively monitor and adjust activities to respond to changing circumstances and priorities to meet goals, proactively address issues as they arise and mitigate risks associated to events
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, personable and service-oriented
  • Ability to work within a tight timeline and prioritize in a fast-paced dynamic environment
Other position requirements to note:
  • Some flexibility to travel throughout the region (15%) and to attend evening and weekend events; valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license preferred
Location Preference: This will be a remote/work-from-home position but to best support the needs of the region, the incumbent should be located in Lower Mainland BC or Vancouver Island
