Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO) works to ensure that everyone affected by childhood cancer has access to the best care and support. We partner to achieve an excellent childhood cancer care system for children, youth, survivors, their families and healthcare teams in Ontario and beyond. POGO champions childhood cancer care, and as the collective voice of this community, is the official advisor to Ontario\'s Ministry of Health on children\'s cancer control and treatment. POGO is a non-profit organization with charitable status, here for kids with cancer, for now, for life.

Here\'s what you will do:

The Development Associate works collaboratively with POGO\'s fundraising team to support the work of all portfolios and volunteer efforts in alignment with POGO\'s strategic plan. In collaboration with the Chief Development Officer, the incumbent will also build and execute strategies to support the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of Individual Giving. You will:
  • Provide administrative support to the fundraising team across portfolios and initiatives and the Development Cabinet in consultation with senior leadership and key team members;
  • In collaboration with senior leadership and key team members , develop and execute the Individual Giving portfolio;
  • Engage with prospects and donors in a donor-centric model of stewardship;
  • Provide support through Raisers Edge/Moves Management for Major Gifts portfolio;
  • Oversee all database management tasks including accurate processing of gift and donor information, timely acknowledgement and receipting of gifts, developing gift procedures, and supporting the administrative needs of the department;
  • Function as a subject matter expert in Raiser\'s Edge and One Cause;
  • Prepare monthly revenue reporting and ad hoc reports, exports, and queries to support database integrity;
  • Maintain the data hygiene and integrity for revenue database reporting and collaborate with internal stakeholders for monthly reconciliation;
  • Complete financial reporting as required in collaboration with the Development Assistant;
  • Remain current and comply with all Canadian Revenue Agency fundraising/tax receipting rules and regulations;
  • Attend events as identified as a POGO representative.
Here\'s what you\'ll need to be successful:
  • Post-secondary certificate, ideally focused on Business, Marketing, Administration or Fundraising;
  • Minimum of two (2) years administrative experience in fundraising with a charitable organization. Experience working in healthcare and knowledge of pediatric oncology and communities served by POGO are assets;
  • Basic background in fundraising methodologies and best practices;
  • Effectiveness in building, nurturing and leveraging strong relationships with donors, volunteers, staff, colleagues and other stakeholders;
  • Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal skills;
  • Superior organizational skills, and an ability to meet deadlines;
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision;
  • MS Office skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
  • Possess strong technical skills including experience with fundraising database applications (knowledge of Raiser\'s Edge is an asset), and ability to maintain and analyze data;
  • Willingness to work outside of regular business hours and travel as necessary;
  • Valid driver\'s license and access to a vehicle preferred.
