Job Description


Desktop Support (Site Support) at Teck Resources is a Tier 2 end user support position, with aspects of higher and lower responsibility and technical-aptitude work occasionally included. As its name implies, Desktop Support is a predominantly in-person support role! Due to this fact, this position is and will remain in-person and in-office 80-100% of the week.

The Desktop Support Technician should come from a customer service background, with a focus on recent technology. The successful candidate would have experience supporting executives in an enterprise environment, if not also experience directly working with C-Suite to meet their technical needs as well.

While the team is quite tight-knit, candidates must have the ability to work independently and make use of varied and detached resources as well. All work is delegated and documented through ServiceNow, and prior experience with this tool is beneficial. Upkeep of the request, incident, and asset management records is also expected, as well as updating internal team documentation and externally facing knowledgebase articles when necessary.

  • Liaise with multiple teams, tiers, groups, and areas of the business on a daily basis to complete tasks, incidents, and other project work
  • Working with hardware and software vendors to verify timely product delivery, and ensuring that new equipment is installed and ready to operate on schedule
  • Maintain important records efficiently and accurately, including service tickets, request history, asset records, and internal and external documentation
  • Contribute to the continued growth of the team; helping to implement documentation, policies, and procedures. This includes thinking creatively on how to improve processes
  • Review and maintain stock levels to an adequate degree, ensuring availability without over-expenditure
  • Analyzing and making recommendations regarding hardware and software standardization when possible
Qualifications:
  • Degree (BA or BSC) OR 4+ years directly-related Tier 2 desktop support experience
  • Previous customer experience is mandatory (examples: retail, hospitality, and restaurant industries)
  • Recent experience working in a large (5000+) person organization, and is open to learning new skills
  • Phenomenal organizational, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are an absolute necessity
  • Able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, including handling interruptions, and returning to and completing tasks in a timely manner
  • Thorough understanding and history supporting Windows 10, Office 2016/9 MSI, O365 CTR, and O365 Online
  • Confidence in troubleshooting Tier 2 (and some Tier 3) issues in Windows, including application specific errors, and issues that arise in a complex SCCM/AD/Azure multi/hybrid-DC environment
  • Experience working in an ITIL V3/V4 framework
  • Advanced familiarity with tools such as Service Now, Intune, Azure Online, TeamViewer, SCCM, Active Directory (and Azure AD), Desktop Authority
  • Working with, troubleshooting, and configuring WDS/SCCM imaging workflows
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and other methods of software automation
  • Experience supporting multi-function Xerox printers, notably AltaLink models
  • Experience with a purchasing/requisitioning system and related workflows
  • Recent history supporting Apple in the Enterprise, using JAMF and InTune
  • Spanish speaking skills are a nice to have
  • Additionally preferred qualifications may include professional certifications from entities such as BCIT or HDI (Desktop Support Technician or Support Center Analyst), CompTIA or Microsoft (Microsoft Certified IT Professional or Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator)
