The Individual Learning Modules (ILM) Office is responsible for the creation, maintenance, and publishing of all Individual Learning Modules (ILMs). ILMs are standardized learning resources for instructors and students in apprenticeship, trades, and technical training courses. Based on the Alberta skilled trades curriculum guides, ILM publications are an important part of the apprenticeship curriculum and provide learners with current, learning materials that meet or exceed industry standards. The ILM office, both a learning resource development and publishing team, manages ILM content development, product creation, publishing, and distribution.
Desktop Publishing Specialists (Product Specialists) closely support and collaborate with learning designers, illustrators, and editors to iteratively build educational content for print. They play a pivotal role in the curriculum development and publishing process, contributing to the workflow, quality, consistency, and visual appeal of Individual Learning Modules. They ensure the final product is engaging and effectively communicates complex concepts to learners.
Working within the curriculum development and publishing team, the specialist ensures that the publications are cohesive and well-structured materials that meet the highest quality standards.
The Desktop Publishing specialist reports to the Product Lead within the ILM office and is primarily responsible for coordinating creation, maintenance, and administration of ILM products, product lines, assets, and document control.
