RVA is currently seeking a Bridge Designer / Engineering Technologist to join their Bridges / Transportation Structures group in a full-time permanent position.

Reporting to the Bridge Manager, this role will give you an opportunity to work on a variety of projects including multi-disciplinary projects.

The candidate would prepare CAD drawings and assist in delivery of bridges and other transportation projects.



Duties:



Development of CAD drawings and delivery of bridge projects. Assist in coordination of projects with Highways, Environmental, Drainage, Hydrology, and other disciplines. Working in conjunction with the Project team, Project Engineer, and other members of the design team to complete projects of varying size and complexity from start to finish. In our team environment, as workload requires, assist other Project CAD Technologists in completing work for their project deadlines. Coordinate the varying responsibilities associated with managing and producing drawings for bridge/structural projects, including managing specific files and directories. Provide support to Senior CADD personnel, in creation of standards and methods to further the strategic development of relevant technologies. Working with the project team from initial evaluation through design to construction completion. Completion of periodic support for the field review during construction. Completion of review of shop drawings during construction, if required. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:



An applicable degree or diploma in civil engineering technology is preferred. 1-3 years of related experience drafting, designing, with an interest in conducting occasional site work as well Educational or work experience in drafting, specifically CAD and designing. Exposure and/or interest in bridge engineering, bridge layout and geometry, construction methodologies and sequence and traffic staging would be considered an asset. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD is a must.
