to develop and optimize packaging solutions for automotive parts and assemblies. The ideal candidate has strong CAD skills, hands-on packaging experience, and a focus on protection, cost-efficiency, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop packaging for automotive parts, assemblies, and materials using
advanced SolidWorks skills
(AutoCAD, CATIA, NX a plus).
Create detailed packaging drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs) aligned with customer and internal standards.
Evaluate and improve existing packaging to enhance protection, reduce costs, and optimize logistics and sustainability.
Conduct packaging tests to verify design performance.
Collaborate with suppliers to prototype and validate new packaging concepts.
Maintain accurate packaging documentation, revision control, and approval records.
Ensure compliance with customer requirements, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and internal quality standards.
Support implementation of returnable/reusable packaging programs.
Work closely with production, logistics, quality, and purchasing teams to ensure packaging compatibility with manufacturing and distribution processes.
Participate in supplier reviews and process improvement meetings.
Recommend packaging improvements that reduce material use, waste, and carbon footprint.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in
automotive packaging design or engineering
.
High-level proficiency in SolidWorks
(advanced modeling, assemblies, simulation, and drawing creation). AutoCAD, CATIA, or NX is a plus.
Strong knowledge of automotive packaging materials (corrugated, foam, plastics, metal racks, etc.) and protective design principles.
Familiarity with supply chain, logistics, lean manufacturing, and design-for-manufacturing principles.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational abilities.
Experience with APQP, PPAP, or similar automotive product launch processes is an asset.
