This role collects, analyzes and organizes basic engineering data. This role is also expected to analyze client's current and future needs. This role is responsible for using data to develop design layouts and all engineering documentation required for complete functional design by deadline.


This is currently an 18-month contract with the possibility of becoming a long-term opportunity.


YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:


Design appropriate access network facilities in a timely fashion to meet customer service dates using standard technologies; establish project milestones for service delivery
Facilitate preparation of work packages to assist outside construction forces in building access facilities (underground and/or aerial structures, installing fibre & copper cables, and related equipment
Work with Project Engineers, Project Coordinators, CAD technicians and survey crews in order to complete pole line design assessments in accordance with local standards.
Analysis of pole lines for required conductor spacing, separation, clearance and physical element strength under ice and wind loading.
Ensure design drawings and calculation packages are complete and ready for review and sealing by a Project Engineer as required
Liaison with project coordinators and facilitators to provide quality designs
Develop, create, recommend, design new drawings and standardize it for multi-site application. Include fix/edit in existing drawing to conform to the company's current acceptable design standards
Check and correct any mistakes within the drawings
Create new and innovative methods to improve the quality of company's drawings and the drawing process
Participate in various projects such as working committees on improving quality, processes and work/group organization.
Manage third party external relationships with developers, department of transportation, municipalities, utilities, etc.
Continuously develop his or her knowledge on project management and network technology.


THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:


Engineering Degree, preferred but not limited to (civil, electrical, industrial, or structural) from an accredited university or equivalent
Computer literacy in Windows, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Working knowledge of SpatialNet
Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar CAD applications
Good Project Management Skills and working knowledge in budgeting & costing
Ability to work and focus on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with an upbeat attitude
Leadership, dynamic and able to maintain excellent client relations
Team player
Proven organizational and interpersonal abilities
Resourceful, adaptable, motivated, high integrity, self-starter
Organized, self-disciplined, reliable and capable of evaluating workload and obtaining cooperation of other departments
Strong communication skills (oral & written), self-assured, fun and possess a good sense of humor
Capable of working under pressure, sense of urgency
Gifted thinker who is extremely resourceful and can learn new technologies on the fly, driven and proactive
Aptitude to recognize opportunities for improvement in day-to-day work and take appropriate actions
Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills with a strong attention to detail
Must have valid driver's license and access to personal vehicle to attend site visits on behalf of the company as required
Must be able to pass a basic "Security Check"


Related Competencies (preferred but not required):


Knowledge of the Access Network architecture and telecom technologies
Knowledge/experience of Access Network Provisioning an asset
Knowledge of outside plant design, installation, maintenance or construction
Knowledge of SpatialNet
Knowledge of SAP, Network Engineer, Cable Cad
Knowledge of technical design standards for the access network
Knowledge of the telecom industry
Experience in contract management and relationship building with third parties and suppliers
Knowledge / experience in Project Management & Financial Management
