Design mobile defense subsystems with minimal supervision utilizing NX CAD software integrated to the Teamcenter database
Create and maintain vehicle master models and product structure (Virtual Engineering Unit) and administer working files for multiple design teams
Work with Vehicle and System architects to develop initial concepts and sub-system space and weight allocations
Support design/model reviews using NX CAD software and/or Teamcenter Visualization
Work with Vehicle and System architects to triage issues and develop solution concepts that are considerate of the entire system
Ensure design integrity by performing dynamic motion, interference, and weight and center of gravity analyses; communicate results to internal customers
Create solid models, layouts and associative assembly and detail drawings from sketches, notes or direction from senior designers or Project Engineers to stringent industry, company and military standards
Support data transfer activities integrating supplier generated CAD models, (received in various formats) into the VEU. Interact with internal and external customers to ensure data received/exported meets expectations
May be required to participate in Bid and Proposal activities by determining scope of work and preparing labour estimates, preparation of Basis of Estimates (BOE).
May be required to participate in statusing and planning activities while monitoring project cost and schedule performance for various contracts
May be required to lead identification and implementation of departmental processes, standards and related documentation
Required Qualifications:
University degree or college diploma in the Mechanical field
Minimum 3-5 years of experience with NX CAD software in modeling, drafting and advanced assemblies
Strong knowledge of the application and interpretation of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) from piece parts to complex assemblies
Demonstrated strength in MS Office applications
Ability to travel (5% Cdn) and (5% US & International) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
Experience with typical defense and/or mobile equipment standards (e.g. MIL-Specs, ASME standards, SAE standards, FMVSS, etc.)
Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Requirements for confined space
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum 3-5 years mechanical design utilizing CAD tools in a related industry
Knowledge of military drawing practices including MIL-STD-100 and related ASME Y14 series standards
Knowledge of Teamcenter Product Data Management application
OACETT certified Mechanical Technologist or Technician (CET) with specialty in mobile equipment
