An exciting opportunity has arisen for an AC Design Engineer to join our established team at Tedd Engineering. The AC Design Engineer will be responsible for both the design and optimisation of AC powertrain systems and the development of AC electrical panels. This hybrid role requires expertise in AC machine design, powertrain integration, and electrical panel construction, ensuring both systems meet performance, safety, and efficiency standards. The engineer will work closely with the MPP engineering teams to implement best practices for AC machines, while also taking the lead in designing and creating electrical panels that support the powertrain infrastructure.

The position is based in Keene, Ontario at our MPP Group Manufacturing Facility.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:



AC Powertrain Engineering



Collaborate with the MPP Engineering teams to design and develop best practices for AC machines, including motor control, power delivery, and efficiency optimization. Perform system modelling and simulations for AC powertrains to ensure compatibility with overall vehicle systems. Design and test components to meet both performance and regulatory standards. Conduct thermal, electrical, and mechanical analysis to improve powertrain efficiency and performance. Work with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, and software) to integrate the AC powertrain system into larger vehicle or machinery systems. Provide technical expertise and solutions throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept through to production.

AC Panel Design



Design, develop, and specify AC electrical panels, ensuring they meet electrical safety codes and performance standards. Select appropriate components, such as circuit breakers, transformers, and wiring, to create efficient and reliable AC panel designs. Produce detailed electrical schematics, control diagrams, and panel layouts. Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure components are sourced to specifications. Test, troubleshoot, and resolve any issues related to panel performance or system integration. Ensure compliance with relevant electrical standards and regulations, including local and international codes (e.g., IEC, NEC). Develop documentation for panel builds, including detailed technical drawings, instructions, and reports for manufacturing teams.

General



Foster and maintain strong communication within MPP Global teams, including Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain, to promote best practices and drive continuous improvement. Support the service team with repairs on local machines when required. Support in house training delivery for customers/dealers and employees of MPP Global on new and existing products. Oversee and ensure compliance with health and safety standards within the department Execute special projects as needed, with the flexibility to support other areas of the business based on operational or customer requirements.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Proven experience (3+ years) in AC powertrain design, power electronics, and/or electric vehicle systems. Solid understanding of AC machine principles and powertrain design concepts. Proficiency in designing electrical panels, including control systems, protection, and distribution. Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for designing electrical schematics and system layouts. Knowledge of safety standards and regulations in both powertrain systems and electrical panel designs (e.g., IEC, NEC). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.
