will be responsible for developing, testing, and improving hygiene products and dispensing systems from concept to production. This role involves designing plastic components, creating detailed technical drawings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product feasibility, functionality, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Design & Development:
Develop 3D models and detailed 2D drawings for plastic injection-molded, sheet metal, and machined components using
SolidWorks
or similar CAD software.
Participate in design reviews and implement design improvements based on testing and feedback.
Ensure designs meet performance, manufacturability, and cost requirements.
Create and evaluate prototypes for functionality, durability, and compliance.
Technical Documentation & Compliance:
Prepare engineering drawings, BOMs (Bills of Materials), and technical specifications.
Ensure designs comply with industry regulations and internal quality standards.
Collaboration & Problem-Solving:
Work closely with
R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams
to develop cost-effective and high-quality solutions.
Assist in troubleshooting design and production issues.
Collaborate with suppliers and external partners to optimize materials and production methods.
Testing & Validation:
Support product validation through lab testing and field trials.
Participate in
DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
and other risk assessments.
Implement
continuous improvement
initiatives for product quality and efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in
Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field
.
3-5 years
of experience in product design, preferably in plastic injection molding or metal fabrication.
Experience in the
plastics,
medical devices, or consumer products
industry is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in
SolidWorks
, or equivalent 3-D CAD software.
Knowledge of
DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturability & Assembly)
principles.
Understanding of
materials selection
, particularly plastics and metals.
Familiarity with
ISO 9001, GD&T, and tolerancing practices
.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
