Job Description
Position Summary:
The primary duties of the Derrickhand is maintaining proper drilling fluid characteristics, the rate of fluid circulation, mud handling equipment, and the preventative maintenance program. Additionally, the Derrickhand is responsible for the work done above the rig floor.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Driller and become familiar with the work of the Driller.
- Assist and train Motorhands, Floorhands and Leasehands as required.
- Clean and paint as required.
- Assist in drill line slip-and cut program
- Assist in moving the rig and camp, rigging up and rigging out.
- Preform all other duties as instructed by Driller or Rig Manager.
- Learn and be knowledgeable of and adhere to the Company\xe2\x80\x99s Safety Policies, as outlined in the HSE Manual.
- Support and promote the HSE program to all employees.
- Set an example to fellow crew members and employees to adhere to HSE policies, and safe work practices.
- Participate in weekly safety meetings, rig inspections, and Hazard I.D. Program.
- Encourage fellow crew members and employees to adhere to safety regulations, work practices and policies.
- Report all Incidents and Near Misses to the Driller or Rig Manager immediately.
- Strong mechanical aptitude;
- The ability to work in a team setting;
- The ability to work in a fast passed physically demanding environment;
- Must hold all regulatory safety certificates as required (refer to training matrix).
