Job Summary
The Coordinator, Volunteer Resources (CVR) is responsible for leading the coordination of volunteer resource programming within Eastern Health. It is accountable for the development, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of volunteer programs and services that support the needs of clients and the organization. The CVR is also responsible for overseeing and evaluating the volunteer lifecycle including recruitment (e.g. interview, reference and screening processes), orientation, training, scheduling and the overall placement experience of adult and teenage volunteers. Working independently and within a team, the CVR maintains an active and comprehensive program of volunteer resources to support our clients, the organization and its role in the community. This position will be primarily responsible for volunteers and volunteer programming at the St. Clare\'s Mercy Hospital and their affiliated community based programs. This position will also have significant involvement with the St. Clare\'s Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and the operation of the St. Clare\'s Gift Shop. Volunteer responsibilities within other programs/sites may be required.

Job Demands

Occasionally required to lift/move objects, such as files and records up to 10 lbs.
Work provides the opportunity to occasionally stand, walk and bend and stretch within the office environment.
Constantly required to perform fine finger/precision work while sitting using a keyboard and mouse responding to information requests from clients, updating databases, and preparing correspondence, etc.
Visual concentration is constant when reading and editing documents, writing policies and reference documents and completing monthly reports. Occasionally there is unusual/distracting noise, glare from computer monitors and lack of privacy.
Exact results and precision are required when preparing reports, compiling statistical information, and reconciling bank statements.
Auditory concentration is constant while listening to multiple stakeholders, answering the telephones, etc.
Constantly impacted by interruptions and multiple time pressures/deadlines with a lack of control over work pace.
Work demands do not result in considerable fatigue requiring periods of rest.

Job Qualifications
Graduation with an approved/recognized baccalaureate degree in social sciences, education, human kinetics/recreation or business with a focus in human resources is required.
A minimum of three years of experience within the last five working in volunteer management or in a leadership role within the volunteer sector is required.
An in-depth knowledge of current trends, resources and information related to volunteerism is required.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs.
Demonstrated strong leadership, organizational and communication skills (both verbally and in writing).
Demonstrated supervisory skills including the ability to support and provide direction to others.
Proven ability to forge productive partnerships with community agents and other external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
Demonstrated effective time management skills and the ability to prioritize.
Proven analytical, problem solving, decision-making skills and be able to work both collaboratively and with a high degree of independence and initiative.
A satisfactory record of work performance & attendance is required
