The Department of Drama, College of Arts and Science invites applications for a Sessional Lecturer to teach the following courses during the following session(s):

Term One

Term and Course Dates: Term One (January to April)

Qualifications: An MFA degree with a focus in acting or equivalent acting experience and experience in teaching introductory acting to undergraduate students. Knowledge of performance in relation to voice and speech training would be an asset. Applicants must possess knowledge and understanding of First Nations, M\xc3\xa9tis, and Inuit culture. Instructor must be able to communicate verbally in one or more languages of First Nations, M\xc3\xa9tis and/or Inuit; have experience in language immersion techniques, in particular the \xe2\x80\x9ccommunicative method\xe2\x80\x9d of language acquisition; teach the language using a variety of traditional and contemporary methodologies, and especially via performance.

This position is currently structured as two half-time sessional appointments to be taught together with one instructor primarily focusing on performance and one primarily focusing on language. One full time position would be considered for the right applicant.

This course section is part of the Indigenous Student Achievement Pathways (ISAP) which bundles advisory, co-curricular and curricular programming to support the retention and success of First Nations, M\xc3\xa9tis, and Inuit students in the College of Arts & Science.

Additional qualifications required for this ISAP section include the following:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous community priorities and perspectives, and attention to socio-economic, inter-generational, and educational barriers that unequally affect Indigenous post-secondary cohorts in Saskatchewan
  • Familiarity with Indigenous perspectives and research methodologies as they connect to relevant academic disciplines, and to the development of skills for student success in those disciplines
  • Experience teaching using methods that promote collaborative and peer-to-peer learning in small course cohorts
  • Experience teaching mature student cohorts and students with nonstandard K-12 preparation in relevant academic disciplines
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence and commitment to pedagogic praxis (reflection and reflexive adaptation of teaching)
