: The IT Department Assistant is a technically savvy individual who is organized and has good communication skills. This position provides confidential administrative support to the Deputy CIO, the IT Associate Directors, and on occasion to the AVP, Strategic Transformation & CIO, and performs a wide range of administrative, office management, communication, IT functions, and coordination of IT meetings in support of the IT Department.

The IT Department Assistant is responsible for organizing and maintaining IT administrative information, including various documents, vendor contracts, budget materials, and confidential information related to IT team members.

In addition to office administration, this position assists in coordinating and organizing IT licenses and invoices. The IT Department Assistant also assists IT in managing various IT contracts and supports the administration of mobile device plans.

Qualifications Required:

Education & Experience

  • Grade 12 completion supplemented by a one-year certification in business administration (or equivalent) and additional coursework in desktop publishing. Completion of a two-year college diploma preferred.
  • Four (4) years of recent related administrative experience, preferably supporting IT or post-secondary environment.
  • Microsoft Office Specialist Certification is an asset.
  • Experience in creating documents using various desktop publishing and office applications.
  • Experience with minute taking and have basic knowledge of Roberts Rules of Order.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a work team.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to ongoing changes in procedures, policies, and organizational structure.
  • Ability to learn and adopt new technologies, tools, and applications.
  • Ability to meet work performance standards set by the College.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to work flexible hours during early mornings, evenings, and weekends if required.
  • Hours & Days of Work: 9:00am - 5:00pm Monday to Friday.

Salary Range: $29.84 - $34.07 per hour

Pay Grade: CUPE Paygrade 21

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 35

Hours may vary according to the needs of the department.
