Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre (SOAHAC) is a diverse, dynamic, multiservice Indigenous health and wellness agency. We strive to provide quality, wholistic health services by sharing and promoting traditional and western health practices to enable people to live in a more balanced state of well-being. SOAHAC provides services to Indigenous people including those who live on and off reserve, status, non-status, Inuit, and Metis within the Southwest, Waterloo Wellington and Erie St Clair regions. SOAHAC has a mandate of ensuring that health services are accessible, of high quality, and are culturally appropriate. It is SOAHAC's objective to build health care capacity within Indigenous communities. Currently, we are seeking a compassionate and community-minded Dentist to join our dental clinic team to work at the London and Chippewa SOAHAC Dental Clinics. This is a unique opportunity for someone who wants to practice dentistry, contributing to reducing oral health disparities in the communities we serve.

Reporting to the Manager, Quality & Compliance, the Dentist will be instrumental in elevating the operational efficiency of the dental clinics. This role will provide high-quality, client-centre dental care in a welcoming and respectful environment, working with a diverse client population, many of whom face challenges in accessing traditional dental care.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive dental care including diagnosis, treatment planning, restorative procedures, extractions and preventive care. Work collaboratively with the team, including dentist(s), dental hygienist(s), assistant(s), and administrative staff to deliver client-centered care. Ensure compliance with all clinical protocols, infection prevention and control standards, and the regulatory requirements of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO). Support and mentor dental staff and students, where applicable. Contribute to the mission of the clinic by promoting oral health education and preventive practices within the community. Participate in team meetings and quality improvement initiatives. Maintain up-to-date and compliant client records in accordance with privacy regulations. Provide clear and compassionate communication regarding billing, appointments, and clinic policies, as necessary. Work occasional extended hours as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager, Quality & Compliance

Requirements

DDS / DMD degree from an accredited dental program. Current license in good standing with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO). Demonstrated commitment to equitable, inclusive, and culturally safe client care. Experience in community or public health dentistry is an asset but not required. Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic, and mission-driven environment. Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating professionalism, empathy, and cultural sensitivity when working with diverse populations. Able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.

This job may require additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre.

SOAHAC values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer; however, hiring preference will be given to qualified Indigenous applicants. SOAHAC is committed to providing employment accommodation in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
