Overview


We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, and administrative support. This role requires excellent communication skills, familiarity with dental and medical office systems, and a strong understanding of healthcare documentation and billing procedures. The Dental Receptionist will play a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations while providing exceptional patient service.

Must be available to work on weekends and evenings.



Responsibilities



Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival and departure Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using dental practice management software such TRACEKR*
Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility verification using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth Collect payments, process co-pays, and handle billing procedures including medical collection processes Manage patient intake forms, update electronic health records (EHR) systems such as eClinicalWorks or EMR systems Maintain accurate documentation review for patient records and treatment plans Assist with insurance claims submission and follow-up for outstanding balances Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and provide excellent customer service File and organize medical records, manage appointment reminders, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations Support office management tasks including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and general clerical duties Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth clinic operations and care plans

Requirements



Prior experience in a dental or medical office environment is highly preferred, including familiarity with dental terminology and clinic procedures Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth is a plus Knowledge of medical coding including CPT, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for billing purposes Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and health information management practices Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and data entry accuracy (10 key typing) Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and bilingual abilities are advantageous Ability to handle insurance verification processes for Medicare or other providers effectively Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and office management tasks Previous experience in a dental office or healthcare setting involving medical billing, coding, or administrative support is preferred
