We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, and administrative support. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with dental and medical office systems, and a strong understanding of healthcare documentation and billing procedures. Experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Meditech, or similar platforms is highly preferred. Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve a diverse patient population. The Dental Receptionist plays a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations while providing exceptional patient service.
Duties
Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression
Schedule patient appointments using EMR systems like Dentrix
Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility verification
Collect payments and process medical billing and coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Review and update patient records accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems
Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette to handle appointment inquiries and patient questions
Assist with documentation review, medical records management, and filing of patient documents
Maintain confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA standards
Support clinic staff with administrative tasks including data entry, typing, filing, and office management duties
Coordinate with clinical staff for care plans and patient follow-up appointments
Ensure smooth front desk operations by managing patient intake processes and medical scheduling
Experience
Prior experience in a medical or dental office setting is highly preferred, especially within a clinical environment or healthcare administration role
Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding, and Medicare billing practices
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Dentrix
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10 key typing), and health information management software
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Bilingual abilities are advantageous for serving diverse patient populations effectively
Experience managing insurance verification processes and medical billing procedures is desirable
Demonstrated clerical experience including front desk operations, office management, filing, and multi-line phone handling
