We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, insurance verification, and maintaining accurate medical and dental records. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with various electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a strong understanding of dental terminology and administrative procedures. The Dental Receptionist will ensure a smooth patient experience while supporting the overall efficiency of the clinic's operations.
Duties
Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing exceptional patient service at the front desk
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments using Dentrix system
Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and other third-party payers
Collect payments and process billing using medical collection procedures and billing software
Manage multi-line phone systems with proper phone etiquette and assist with patient inquiries
Maintain accurate dental and medical records in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Athenahealth
Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and care plans
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and managing health information securely
Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (10 key typing), and document review
Support office management activities including medical office management tasks and front desk operations
Coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth patient flow and clinic operations
Experience
Prior experience in a dental or medical office setting is highly preferred, especially in roles such as Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Support
Familiarity with dental terminology, ICD coding, CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and medical billing processes
Proficiency in Dentrix
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems effectively
Knowledge of insurance verification processes and Medicare regulations is advantageous
Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations
Experience with clinic management or hospital experience is beneficial but not required
