We are seeking a highly organized and professional Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, patient intake, and administrative support with a focus on delivering exceptional patient service. Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Open Dental or Dentrix is preferred. The role requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, insurance verification, and dental billing procedures to ensure smooth clinic operations and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly and manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy
Schedule and confirm patient appointments using dental practice management software (Open Dental)
Verify insurance coverage and benefits
Collect payments and perform collections as needed
Review and update patient medical records accurately
Handle patient intake procedures, including documentation review and data entry
Manage insurance claims processing, and billing documentation
Manage patient recall system; contacting and scheduling patients for recall treatments
Maintain accurate filing of dental records and administrative documents
Ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines and confidentiality standards
Assist with office management tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining office supplies
Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries and ensuring a positive experience at the front desk
Experience
Previous experience in a dental office
Proficiency in dental terminology, and health information management systems
Familiarity with dental practice management software such as Open Dental or Dentrix
Proficiency in understanding the recall management system and recall terminology
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing proficiency (10-key typing)
Knowledge of insurance verification processes
Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills in a fast-paced environment
Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations
