Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
Assist dentists during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency and patient comfort.
Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures to enhance their dental health outcomes.
Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling medical records with care.
Monitor and record vital signs before procedures to ensure patient safety during treatments.
Support infection control protocols by sterilizing instruments, managing dental supplies, and maintaining a sterile environment in accordance with OSHA standards.
Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, including medical coding for billing purposes when necessary.
Collaborate with the dental team to streamline office operations, improve patient flow, and uphold high standards of clinical excellence.
Experience
Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental office or clinic setting is required.
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred for efficient documentation management.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques is essential.
Experience with pediatric dentistry is a plus, demonstrating comfort working with children and understanding pediatric-specific needs in dentistry.
Demonstrated ability to perform chairside assisting seamlessly while maintaining excellent patient care standards.
Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and medical records management enhances your ability to support comprehensive patient assessments.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients of diverse backgrounds while providing clear instructions on oral health practices.
