Dental Assistant (CDA Level II)



(32 Hours/week Permanent)

What We are Looking For:



We are currently recruiting for a Dental Assistant to join our Ontario Seniors Dental Care Team for a full-time position. This role is responsible for providing chairside assistance to the clinic dentist and assisting in the day to day operations of the program.

A successful candidate in this role would have



Completion of CDA Level II Dental Assisting program.

National Dental Assisting Examining Board Certificate and current certification with Ontario Dental Assistants Association.

Experience providing administrative and clerical support for a dental clinic is an asset

Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and dental practice management software systems. Experience with Dentrix would be considered an asset.

Knowledge of the safe operation of an X-ray machine and quality assurance protocols, dental terminology, dental procedures, and the operation and care of dental equipment, safety management in a dental setting, preventive strategies, infection prevention and control protocols.

Flexibility and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.

Experience working with low-income seniors an asset.

In this role you will be expected to complete the following tasks at an intermediate level



Preparing, maintaining, updating, retrieving, and filing charts electronically.

Sets up and organizes instruments and dental materials needed for dental procedures and ensures equipment is in working order.

Providing chair-side assistance to the clinic dentist

Exposes and mounts radiographs as specified by HARP Act (1990) using digital X-ray machines & software.

Experience with rubber dam placement and removal an asset.

Floating duties, as needed (i.e. sterilizing, operatory clean-up & set-up, charting).

Maintains proper infection control procedures

Participates and assists in the development of health promotion activities, such as health fairs, dental demonstrations, and dental education activities.

Ensures the clinic's dental equipment is maintained in good working condition

Orders dental materials and printing supplies for the dental clinics; monitors and controls inventory

Tests radiological and sterilization equipment on a monthly basis.

Performs related duties as assigned

Starting Salary of $21.30-$23.89 hourly

3 Weeks paid vacation, with an increase to 4 weeks after 1 year of employment

15 Sick/Personal Days per year

10 Professional Development days per year

Enrolment in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)

Comprehensive Extended Health and Dental Care Plan including a $1000 Healthcare Spending Account.
