JOB DESCRIPTION:

Maritime Demolition and Environmental Services is seeking a reliable and hardworking Demolition Worker to join our construction team in Dartmouth. The successful candidate will work as part of a crew performing demolition and site preparation activities on various construction and environmental remediation projects throughout the Halifax Regional Municipality.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Load, unload and transport construction materials, demolition debris and tools to and from work sites Demolish buildings and structures using hand and power tools according to established safety procedures Remove rubble, debris and other waste materials from demolition sites using wheelbarrows, carts or trucks Sort, clean and pile salvaged materials such as lumber, steel, fixtures and bricks for reuse or recycling Assist in setting up and dismantling scaffolding, ramps, catwalks and barricades at construction sites Operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators, jackhammers and compactors Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction and demolition Direct traffic at or near construction sites when required Perform site cleanup activities to ensure work areas are safe and free of hazards Assist other trades workers as required Follow all workplace health and safety regulations and wear required personal protective equipment Report safety hazards and equipment defects to supervisor immediately

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required

Experience:

Previous experience in construction or demolition work is an asset but not required; on-the-job training will be provided

Certifications:

Valid safety certifications (WHMIS, Fall Protection) are assets but training will be provided

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Physical strength and stamina to perform manual labour for extended periods Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs repeatedly Basic understanding of hand and power tools Ability to work in all weather conditions Ability to follow oral and written instructions Team player with good communication skills Reliable and punctual Safety-conscious attitude

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

English - Basic oral communication required for safety instructions and team coordination

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Outdoor work in all weather conditions Physically demanding work requiring frequent lifting, bending, and standing Exposure to dust, noise, and vibration Work at heights may be required Personal protective equipment will be provided and must be worn.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $23.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 45 per week
