What you'll do:
Reporting to the HABS Commodity Manager, the Department Manager will be responsible for the complete day-to-day operations of the Hardware, Liquor, and Gas Bar/C-Store departments, including the cardlock. Key responsibilities include:
Lead by example by demonstrating behaviours that align with the Co-op's vision, mission, values, and commitment to safety;
Manage daily operations across Hardware, Gas Bar/C-Store, and Liquor departments, including inventory control, merchandising, pricing, and marketing programs;
Oversee procurement and inventory accuracy, including ordering, schedules, receiving, warehousing, and stock management;
Develop and manage budgets for sales, margins, expenses, and inventory; monitor performance and achieve targets;
Implement marketing initiatives and seasonal campaigns to drive sales and enhance customer engagement;
Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards; maintain housekeeping and asset protection;
Provide strong leadership: recruit, train, coach, and manage team performance; foster engagement and teamwork;
Deliver exceptional customer service, resolve issues promptly, and oversee quotations for hardware projects and special orders;
Analyze sales and operational reports to identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective actions;
Other duties as assigned.
Who you are:
You are seeking a career in the Home & Building, Gas Bar, and Liquor industry and bring the following qualifications:
Grade 12 education or equivalent combination of experience
3-5 years of management experience; background in Home & Building Solutions or Gas Bar operations is an asset.
Proven ability to lead a team with a strong focus on customer service.
Knowledge of products within hardware, gas bar, and/or liquor departments.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Action-oriented, customer-focused, and results-driven.
Honest, trustworthy, and committed to excellence.
Passionate about building relationships and collaborating to deliver solutions that matter.
