This is a Floater Delivery Driver position

The Floater Driver will train to cover all routes and be a back up for those who are on sick/vacation days.

Full - Time permanent with benefits

Work location - Dartmouth, NS

Working days: Monday to Friday

No Weekends or Holidays

Shift: 6:30AM to 4:00PM

(end time may vary ie. dependent upon unforeseen delays, freight and or route coverage)

Overtime: Paid after 10 hours worked. Overtime is based on freight volume, weather, mechanical delays etc.

What you will do as a Delivery Driver:

Drive a Cargo Van ie. Ford Transit and or 3 ton commercial Refrigerated truck to deliver and or pick up freights in

Halifax, Dartmouth and surrounding areas*
Deliver freights in good condition and within scheduled time

(approximately 25 to 30 deliveries/day and 1 to 3 pickups)*

Lift and carry freight weighing up to 50lbs*
Use a handheld device to scan documents and freights

Load and Unload freight in proper sequence*

Use a foldable hand truck or a manual pallet truck*
Complete any necessary paperwork accurately Perform all safety checks, including pre-trip and post-trip inspection Report on all safety hazards and accidents Use a cellular phone to communicate with Dispatch, Lead Hand and Manager ie. Truck breakdowns, delivery concerns, answer calls, texts etc.... Provide excellent customer service Build strong client relationships Adhere to safety and compliance regulations Additional duties as required

What we require of you:

High School Diploma Valid Class 5 License is a must Possess a Clean Commercial and Personal Driver's Abstract Courier or LTL experience is an asset

MUST HAVE 2 year Commercial TRUCK Delivery Driving experience in a 3 Ton Truck or higher*

Lift freight up to 50 lbs. and load in proper sequence of delivery with the use of a foldable hand truck or a manual pallet truck*
Excellent communication and problem solving skills Strong organizational skills Attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork Customer Focus - experience providing quality customer service Adaptable to change Experience working in a fast paced environment Experience working independently and with minimal supervision Ability to work on a team and being a team player Must be comfortable with using onboard or handheld computer devices Must have a safety and compliance mind set
