Portofino Bakery was founded over 15 years ago in Victoria, BC with the mission to provide better artisan bread to the local community in Victoria. Today, we have over 200 team members, 3 facilities and are continuing our mission to enrich the lives of our customers with better, everyday baked goods.

Portofino Bakery is part of Bond Bakery Brands, a stakeholder-focused investment platform started by three friends, and includes Pace Processing & Product Development, Holy Napoli and Coco Bakery. Together, we are building better bakeries.

The Bread and Butter of the Position:

If you enjoy driving, have an excellent driving record, a great attitude and strong work ethic, our Delivery Driver position may be your next career move! We rely on our Delivery Drivers to deliver our artisanal products with pride and care to our customers ranging from small independently owned coffee shops and restaurants to large grocery retailers. This position requires our drivers to drive around Up-Island.

Bonus points for previous commercial driving experience! However, our Delivery Drivers drive 1 ton cube trucks so no additional licensing is required. This position requires our drivers to drive around Up-Island/Nanaimo area.

Reporting to the Merchandising & Delivery Operations Supervisor, our Up Island Merchandising & Delivery Team Memberare responsible for:

Working with teams of Delivery Drivers and Warehouse personnel to ensure all time goals are met comfortably Loading and unloading product from trucks as per company policies and procedures Ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of our products within the assigned geographical area Taking pride in representing Portofino Bakery to our customers, demonstrating strong customer and relationship building skills Ensuring orders are dropped off accurately at each location and where applicable merchandising store shelves Handling administrative duties including but not limited to dropping off orders, recording stock counts, returns, and issuing credits Complete all administrative duties and paperwork as assigned Ensuring that product appearance and supply levels in various stores throughout their designated geographic area meet brand and sales standards Learning and becoming familiar with all the routes Keeping track of truck maintenance and cleanliness for the fleet of trucks Other duties as assigned

Shifts and availability:

Comfortable with 10 hour shifts (e.g. our full-time Delivery Drivers work four 10 hour shifts per week) Must be available to work Wednesday - Sunday Must be available to start work at 4:30am This is a full-time permanent position

The Ingredients You Bring to the Table:

Previous driving experience - bonus points for commercial driving experience! Excellent customer service skills The ability to lift up to 50lbs A class 5 driver's license A clean driver's abstract from the past 5 years, with no major infractions Strong time management skills Detail-oriented and an eye for merchandising A willingness to learn and grow A commitment to upholding company policies, compliance and quality standards A commitment to punctuality and reliability, showing up to shifts on time and ready to work
