Job purpose



The Local Delivery Driver is responsible for the delivery of company products (flowers, giftware and floral supply products) in a safe and timely manner and in compliance with all regulatory requirements. Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner in order to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities



Use company vehicles to deliver Hofland products to Hofland customers in a safe, timely and courteous manner. Operate company vehicles in a safe manner and within the regulations set out by the Ministry of Transportation and according to the Highway Traffic Act, as well as company policies and procedures. Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report any safety or operational equipment problems/concerns to the Distribution Manager or assigned designate. Accurately complete and maintain all required documentation including but not limited to: Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports, Daily Travel Logs, Driver Reports, and Delivery Sheets, etc. Responsible for checking fuel levels and re-fueling the vehicle at the end of each shift. Responsible for loading products into vehicle in a safe, efficient, and damage-free manner, ensuring delivery of undamaged product while complying with safety protocols. Responsible for planning travel schedules and routes to ensure product is delivered in the most efficient and timely manner. Assist customers with any questions or concerns in a professional manner in order to ensure customer satisfaction. Responsible for collecting the correct invoiced amount for all C.O.D. orders. Ensure Credit Request Forms are completed fully and correctly for each product returned by customers. Communicate with the Distribution department as well as other departments within the company on a consistent and regular basis to ensure a positive overall customer experience. Perform other related duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications



Must have a valid Ontario driver's license, "Class G" minimum, as well as a clean driving abstract/CVOR. Minimum 3 years' experience driving 3-ton box trucks. Experience with ELD's (GeoTab) preferred. Reefer experience is preferred. Excellent knowledge of the GTHA routes/highways. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Superior organizational, time management and prioritizing skills with the ability to execute tasks with knowledge, confidence and attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to deliver professional and courteous customer service.

Working Conditions



At times, there is a requirement to drive in heavy traffic and poor weather conditions, as well as through alleys and narrow streets. Hours of work may vary in length (i.e. up to 12 hours - depending on shift, route and number of customer drops). Monday to Friday with morning start times. Shifts finish times are dependent upon the delivery route and schedule.

Physical Requirements



Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time. Ability to lift up to 60pounds, walk a distance of mile (440 yards) to customer locations and deliver loads with the assistance of a shipping dolly. Ability to frequently climb in and out of truck. Ability to carry loads to customer locations including going up/down staircases, as required. Must wear safety shoes/boots and company provided uniform.
