Position Summary:
Summerhill Market is seeking a
Deli Manager
to lead the Deli department at our
Rosedale location
. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Deli team, including
staff management, inventory control, ordering, merchandising, and ensuring a superior customer experience
.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor the Deli team to achieve operational and service excellence.
Oversee daily department operations, including
product preparation, slicing, packaging, and display of deli meats, cheeses, salads, sandwiches, dips, gourmet trays, and hot case items
.
Manage
inventory and ordering
, ensuring proper product rotation, minimizing shrink, and maintaining freshness standards.
Work closely with vendors and suppliers to ensure product availability and quality.
Execute and maintain
merchandising standards
, seasonal displays, and promotional initiatives.
Deliver an exceptional
customer service experience
, ensuring the team is knowledgeable and engaged in upselling and product recommendations.
Maintain compliance with
Health & Safety, food handling, and sanitation regulations
.
Collaborate with other store departments and management to support overall store success.
Skillset Requirements:
Passion for food
- you are a true foodie at heart with an interest in deli and specialty products.
2-3 years of supervisory or management experience
in a deli, food service, or grocery environment.
Strong
leadership skills
with a proven ability to motivate and manage a team.
Experience with
inventory management, ordering systems, and vendor relations
.
Excellent communication skills
(verbal and written) with a customer-first mindset.
Proficiency with
POS and inventory systems
; tech-savvy with the ability to learn new tools.
Food Handlers Certification
and knowledge of food safety regulations.
Ability to
work flexible shifts
, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physically able to
stand for extended periods
and lift up to 50 lbs.
High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in hospitality or business is an asset.
