The Learning Hive is an education centre in Woodstock offering 1:1 tutoring and a one-room schoolhouse style private school, known as our Homeschool Enrichment Program. This program provides families with a balance of academics, enrichment, and project-based learning in a supportive and welcoming environment.
We are seeking a Daytime Educator to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about working with children, values evidence-based teaching practices, and thrives in a warm, collaborative setting. We're looking for an educator who believes in the benefits of alternative education and is excited to create meaningful learning experiences that nurture both confidence and curiosity.
Responsibilities
Plan and lead engaging lessons that support growth in reading, writing, math, and enrichment subjects
Encourage curiosity and creativity through project-based and hands-on learning opportunities
Adapt instruction to meet the needs of different learners, ensuring each child feels supported and confident
Create a welcoming classroom environment where students feel safe, respected, and motivated to participate
Communicate regularly with families about student progress and celebrate achievements
Collaborate with fellow educators to share ideas and strengthen our program
Take part in training and professional development to stay current with best practices
Model kindness, patience, and inclusivity while helping students build both academic and personal skills
Skills and Qualities
Clear and positive communication with students, families, and colleagues
Ability to build strong relationships and create a supportive, motivating atmosphere
Gentle but effective classroom management that encourages respect and focus
Flexibility in teaching approaches to support different learning styles and needs
Creative problem-solving and thoughtful decision-making in day-to-day classroom situations
Comfort with using technology, especially Google Workspace (G-Suite)
Genuine passion for education and a commitment to helping every child grow with confidence
Qualifications
Experience working with children in an educational, childcare, or youth program setting
Background in education, child development, or a related field (formal training an asset but not required)
Willingness to learn and apply evidence-based teaching practices
Strong organizational skills and ability to plan engaging lessons and activities
A patient, encouraging, and student-centered approach to learning
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families
Current First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain)
Current Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain)
