The Daycare Worker will provide high-quality, nurturing care and early learning experiences for children of EmployESBC program participants. This role is essential in supporting English-speaking Black Quebecers and newcomers as they access employment, training, and wrap-around services, ensuring their children are cared for in a safe, stimulating, and culturally responsive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Child Supervision and Engagement
o Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all children in care at all times.
o Facilitate age-appropriate activities, play, and learning experiences that support cognitive, emotional, and physical development.
o Provide nurturing interactions to foster trust, confidence, and a sense of belonging for each child.
Inclusive and Culturally Sensitive Care
o Create an environment where children from diverse backgrounds feel respected, valued, and included.
o Incorporate cultural awareness, recognition, and language diversity into daily routines and activities.
o Communicate respectfully and effectively with children and families from Black, newcomer, and equity-deserving communities.
Routine Care and Program Delivery
o Support daily routines including snacks/meals, toileting, rest time, and transitions.
o Maintain cleanliness of play spaces and diligently adhere to health, safety, and hygiene protocols.
o Collaborate with the Daycare Supervisor and other childcare staff to implement the daycare program and respond to the unique needs of participating families.
Records and Family Communication
o Complete attendance and incident records as required.
o Communicate regularly, professionally, and warmly with parents/guardians regarding their child's experiences, progress, or any concerns.
o Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Experience providing care and educational activities for children (age range: infants to 12 years), preferably in a formal daycare, school, or community setting.
Training or certification in Early Childhood Education, Childcare, or a related field is highly desirable.
Knowledge of child development, health, and safety regulations.
Strong communication skills; ability to work well in a multicultural, multilingual environment.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting children's growth.
Experience working with Black, immigrant, or equity-deserving families is an asset.
Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
