Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic cook to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals while ensuring a clean and safe kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for caregiving and education, particularly in working with individuals with educators and children. This position is vital in creating a positive nutritional experience for our children.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook meals according to established menu. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly. Assist in menu planning and food inventory management. Collaborate with staff to accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences of individuals. Engage with educators, fostering a positive environment that encourages healthy eating habits. Monitor food quality during preparation and service to ensure high standards are met. Weekly grocery shopping to ensure fresh ingredients.

Requirements

Criminal record check and Child intervention record check less than 6 months old. Have or will take Food Sanitation and Hygiene course from Alberta Health Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred but not required. Experience working with diverse clientele is highly desirable. Background in early childhood education or experience working with children is a plus. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with educators and clients Commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment at all times.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $15.00-$18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
