Sr. Data Engineer to develop and operationalize analytics-ready data products that support priority projects and system planning needs.
The resource will collaborate with analysts, methodologists, and data scientists to design, build, and optimize datasetsaEUR"ensuring data masking, cohort logic, and patient identification approaches are implemented securely and accurately.
The Data Engineer will work across diverse domain assets and data structures, adapt pipelines for performance and scalability, and partner with Data Architecture, ETL and IT Operations to move solutions from sandbox to production.
The resource will be critical to support the delivery of the successful design and implementation of the CCSO data collection, analysis and reporting activities within the Ontario Health analytic infrastructure; being transitioned from UHN and ultimately being retired within UHN.
Must haves:
5+ years of experience in using SQL, Database design and Python.
Working knowledge of PowerBI
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with analysts and data scientists to develop fit-for-purpose data products.
Write and manage code for data masking, cohort creation, and patient identification algorithms.
Design and build analytics-ready data tables for specific use cases.
Optimize large datasets for performance processing and querying.
Work with diverse domain data assets and formats.
Partner with Data Architecture, ETL, and IT Operations to support sandboxes and operationalize data assets.
Apply modern data engineering practices for consistency, scalability, and reliability.
Communicate technical approaches and insights to stakeholders at all skill levels.
Make sound decisions when navigating complex or ambiguous data engineering issues.
Desired skills:
Familiarity with SAS and Informatica ETL tool
Ontario Healthcare data privacy standards and policies
Familiarity with Microsoft Azure product line
Familiarity with Federal and provincial health care data

Additional Terms
Term:
The term of this Engagement Assignment is 252 Business Days, with an option to extend for up to an additional 125 days at Ontario Health's discretion.
The resource will comply with Ontario Health policies and procedures.
Ontario Health systems cannot be accessed from outside the province of Ontario, and Ontario Health assets including laptops and related equipment cannot be removed from the province of Ontario, without prior written approval from Ontario Health.
Knowledge Transfer Details:
The resource will ensure full knowledge transfer is provided to the Ontario Health team before end of engagement. Some of this might occur at the end of the engagement but will also be shared as information is obtained/consolidated. Key deliverables will be shared with team.
The resource must provide all related documentation as part of knowledge transfer protocol. Documents will be reviewed by the appropriate leads and signed off by manager/director.
The resource will work collaboratively with the Ontario Health team throughout the assignment and ensure key deliverables, milestones, and documentation are shared.
* A walkthrough of any demos, development, etc. will be required before the end of the engagement.
