Your opportunity:

Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) is a non-profit organization that delivers an objectives-based program for massively scalable, seed-stage, science- and technology-based companies. Its mission is to accelerate the commercialization of science for the betterment of humankind. CDL is a global program with sites at Oxford, Paris, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, Halifax, Atlanta, Seattle, Wisconsin, Estonia, and Berlin. The program\xe2\x80\x99s objective-setting process enhances the performance of technical founders who learn from the insights of experienced entrepreneurs, increasing their probability of success. Each stream within each CDL site hosts a series of 4 annual objective-setting sessions that are the primary mechanisms by which the program is delivered. CDL sessions are complex, full-day events that may be hosted virtually or in person and that bring together participating start-ups, mentors, partners, and business students. At the end of each annual program cycle, CDL hosts a two-day event called Super Session that brings together graduating start-ups as well as mentors, partners, and students from across the network.

As the Database Manager at CDL-Global, you will work collaboratively with the Research & Development team to build, manage, and maintain the CDL database and related infrastructure. The Database Manager will ensure the CDL database and associated data processes fulfill all key CDL operational and research needs. Key focus areas will include database testing, data auditing, and data analysis to ensure quality and accuracy of the data, as well as the development and maintenance of data processes (including optimizing data collection), quality improvement initiatives, technical documentation and ad hoc reports.

Your responsibilities will include:

• 
  Developing database schemas and sub-schemas, and optimizing data collection workflows
• Developing and implementing database testing plans, scenarios and environments
• Analyzing datasets to generate descriptive and inferential insights
• Providing detailed information on data analysis findings to internal and external stakeholders
• Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
• Editing database guidelines and technical documentation
• Disseminating data reports in written form and via oral presentations
• Developing and maintaining quality control procedures

Essential Qualifications:

• 
  Bachelor\'s Degree in a technical field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Physical Sciences); or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
• Minimum four (4) years recent and related experience in data science, database design, administration, and support
• Working knowledge of relational database systems (e.g. MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and application-to-database connection tools and methods
• Demonstrated experience with technical software (e.g. AWS, Jira, Salesforce, Slack, Airtable, Zoom, Google, Microsoft Office)
• Superior interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills with the ability to interact with people at various levels
• Demonstrated professionalism, tact, and maturity in handling highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion
• Strong team-oriented work ethic with willingness and ability to work independently and autonomously
• Ability to handle ambiguity and work effectively in a large, complex, dynamic and sophisticated organization
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong time management and organizational skills; detail-oriented with the ability to meet tight deadlines
• Demonstrated good judgment, creativity, tact and diplomacy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
