What you will do:
Lead the development and support of modern visualisation tools, emphasising the Microsoft stack and a broad understanding of development practices.
Collaborate on innovative projects to design and implement advanced visualisation tools, dashboards, and Proofs of Concept (POCs) that leverage data streams such as Event Hubs, Kafka, Data Bricks, and Azure Data Synapse.
Demonstrate strong expertise in the analysis, design, and implementation of visualisation and reporting applications, particularly utilising Power BI and Tableau, whilst integrating data from non-traditional sources.
Gather and define requirements to create web-based reports and dashboards that meet user needs, ensuring the incorporation of contemporary data streams rather than traditional SQL-based databases.
Oversee the successful execution of multiple projects, ensuring thorough documentation and conducting appropriate testing throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Develop and maintain comprehensive codebases, technical documentation, and associated files to support ongoing development efforts.
Create effective project plans and accurately estimate efforts for a diverse range of visualisation projects, considering varying levels of complexity and data tool integration.
Provide technical support for visualisation tools to business functions, addressing and resolving complex issues as they arise.
Translate business requirements into intuitive dashboard solutions, ensuring a clear understanding of how customer needs are met through effective data visualisation.
Conduct strategic data analysis to identify insights and implications, making informed recommendations and developing data displays that effectively communicate complex analyses.
Organise and facilitate data review sessions with stakeholders, ensuring that all process details are accurately captured and validated by business subject matter experts (SMEs).
Support automation developers by clarifying automation requirements and assisting in the creation of necessary environments and permission configurations.
Engage in pre-deployment and post-deployment activities, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions, Go/No-Go meetings, and hyper-care support calls.
Assist in resolving operational issues, including troubleshooting production support challenges and documenting change request details.

Extensive Experience in Visualisation Tools:
A minimum of 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience with leading visualisation tools, including Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, and other contemporary data visualisation platforms.
Cloud Data Asset Management:
Strong experience working with cloud-based data solutions such as Azure Synapse, Databricks, CosmosDB, AWS, GCP, and Kubernetes, ensuring effective data integration and management.
Proficiency in Data Integration Tools:
Knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Power BI Dataflows, and Power Query for seamless data transformation and integration.
Strong Programming and Data Query Skills:
Proficient in programming languages such as JavaScript, HTML, and Python, as well as data query languages including SQL, DAX, T-SQL, GraphQL, PromQL, and KQL, with the ability to write complex queries and optimise data retrieval processes.
Data Validation Expertise:
Experience in data validation processes, including the creation of test plans, test cases, and execution of test cycles to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
Experience with Collaboration Tools:
Proficient in using tools such as Azure DevOps, SharePoint, Office 365, and Microsoft Teams to facilitate project management and team collaboration.
Understanding of Open-Source Technologies:
Awareness of open-source data tools and frameworks, such as Apache Kafka and Apache Spark, to leverage contemporary data processing capabilities.
Adaptability to Industry Trends:
Keen understanding of emerging trends in data visualisation and analytics, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and future-proofing solutions.
This position requires written and oral fluency in English. The successful candidate may be required to support or collaborate with English-speaking colleagues or stakeholders whilst at KPMG.
KPMG BC Region Pay Range Information:
The expected base salary range for this position is $86,000 to $128,500 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant's base salary within this range is based on the individual's location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards programme.
