As part of our Data and Analytics team, you'll be a fundamental part of crafting business processes enterprise-wide by analyzing vast amounts of past and present data.

  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical and analytical tasks
  • Demonstrated track record of leading major data science projects [or demonstrate ability]
  • Technical understanding and critical thinking to challenge status quo
  • Strong problem-solving skills, mathematical and data literacy
  • Flexibility to adapt and run with contending priorities and the ability to shift focus as dynamic business needs evolve
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal ability to tell a compelling story which can be consumed by business partners/executives
  • Demonstrated experience in data transformation and data manipulation.
  • Aspirations to build in-depth industry and retail banking knowledge including current trends in data, analytics and technology
  • Master's degree or PhD in relevant fields; Mathematics, Physics, Biotech, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geomatics
  • Expert proficiency with industry data tools; python/Ruby, R, SQL and Scala, cloud architecture
  • Strong understanding of data manipulation and visualization techniques, with preference to Esri - ArcGIS, Alteryx, SQL and Excel
  • Experience with big data tools, such as SCALA, SPARK, HADOOP, HDFS, HIVE, etc.
  • Experience with machine learning including supervised and unsupervised models.

Delivery
  • Broad technical skills in all facets of data science: advanced analytics, statistical modelling, machine learning & data engineering
  • Build complex statistical models that learn from and scale to petabytes of data.
  • Parse vast data, identify needs and analytics trends, employs industry leading techniques and theories to improve business practices across the enterprise
  • Provide insight into leading analytic practices, designs and leads iterative learning and development cycles, and ultimately produce new and creative analytic solutions that will become core deliverables
  • Accountable to lead & deliver complex, Agile, cross-functional projects that range widely in design, size, scale, scope and techniques
  • Self-directed with the ability to progress strategic opportunities in down times and effectively prioritize in busy times
Expertise & Leadership
  • Analytical thought leadership and stay current on developments in data mining and the application of data science
  • Serve as an authority on a given business domain and provide business expertise to place context around analytics discovery
  • A champion in the D&A community for TD's platforms and strategies, scanning for cutting edge solutions, and proactively identifying opportunities to advance tools, techniques and approaches
  • Communication and Stakeholder Management
  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities, implement solutions, and serve as an ambassador for data science across the enterprise
  • Advanced communication, business acumen and stakeholder management competencies
  • Collaborate with support functions such as risk, technology, model validation, OCDO etc. to increase the velocity of data science by enhancing policies, protocols & procedures within TD's risk appetite
  • Exceptional collaborator in a high-interaction environment
  • Foresee needs from business partners to prescribe effective solutions
  • Leverage empirical evidence and facts to influence/support decision making
  • Collaborate with business partners to inform analytics output, support strategic planning, and prioritize key initiatives
  • Take ownership of team targets and strategies such as value generation and contribute to the overall management and culture of the team
