The position at a glance

The Human Resources Operations (HR COO department) is responsible for the design, development and implementation of HR operational services for North America. The COO teams drive efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance for all HR operations, technology, vendor governance and project management.

BNP Paribas HR is also currently implementing a number of regulations around data privacy and protection. In this context, HR is looking for a highly organized individual, with demonstrated project manager expertise to 1) manage the projects from assessment to execution of regulatory requirements and 2) run the day to day activities linked to data privacy and protection.

Projects in this area are part of a broader bank-wide effort which will require coordination with other streams in the programs and other regions that are in-scope. While local specificities must be adhered, guidance from Group must also be respected.

The Data Privacy and Protection Officer will report directly into the HR COO and functionally to the Head of Control Framework. The job position is based in Montreal and is part of a US/Canada team.

In detail

  • Play an active role in appropriately assessing and applying the content of regulatory and the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s requirements for Data Privacy and Protection in HR.
  • Guarantee that data processing are performed according to existing procedures regarding applicable data retention period, data minimization principle and purpose limitations.
  • Monitor HR\xe2\x80\x99s data privacy and protection compliance,
  • Inform relevant stakeholders of and advise on its data privacy and protection obligations,
  • Provide advice on DPIAs (data protection impact assessments) and monitor their performance,
  • Work closely with relevant stakeholders in HR and outside HR to deliver privacy by design.
  • Manage and lead privacy and data protection projects to ensure full compliance to multiple regional regulations and to the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s framework, with high quality delivery within the project deadlines
  • Plan, track, and manage multiple concurrent project schedules,
  • Coordinate work within HR and in coordination with Regional and / or Group stakeholders,
  • Monitor projects deliverables, timeline, risks, budget and dependencies with the various stakeholders to ensure the completeness and adequacy of deliverables,
  • Effectively communicate project risks, issues and status to senior management,
  • Organize and prepare Project and Steering Committees, including delivery of supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and lead the HR North America Personal Data Protection Committee, the Record Management Committee, the HR Americas Data Privacy Committee.
  • Communicate and train HR in the application of privacy and data protection regulations within HR.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with all stakeholders within HR and other departments such as Legal and Data Privacy Officers, across the company (Regional and Group).
  • Serve as the contact point for the relevant supervisory parties on all data protection issues, including data breach reporting.
  • Serve as the contact point for data subjects on privacy matters, including DSARs (data subject access requests).
  • Take on the role of HR Data Steward to guarantee the data quality, integrity and protection. As HR Record Steward be responsible for coordinating record management across HR teams and collaborate with Record SMEs (Senior Matter Experts) to ensure proper management of records
Qualifications

Education/Experience:
  • BA or MS in engineering, human resources, business or related discipline coupled with excellent academic credentials
  • 7 to 10 years of project management on complex programs and business process improvement work experience with proven record of successfully delivering on time, quality and within budget.
  • Experience in how to build, implement and drive regulatory driven programs is essential.
  • Proven experience in managing change in a dynamic environment
  • Track record of strong relationships with individuals at all levels in the organization
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Demonstrable capacity to organize, handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities and deadlines
  • Recognized ability to lead, manage and engage cross-department teams and regions, drive change within an organization
\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of or interest in regulatory topics addressing privacy and data protection
  • Agile, dynamic, with a problem-solving and analytical mindset
  • Self-starter, demonstrates drive and initiative
  • Strong written, presentation and verbal communication:
  • Ability to communicate clearly project objectives and requirements
  • Capacity to present results convincingly at middle and senior management level
  • Writes sharp and straight-to-the-point executive summaries, emails\xe2\x80\xa6
  • Prepares training materials and succinct one pagers to share with employees
  • Very strong work ethic and ability to deal with confidential information
  • Go beyond existing frameworks by suggesting new ideas which are suitable for the organization
  • Knowledge of the English is required
