POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Data Governance Specialist, you will play a crucial role in implementing and maintaining the Data Governance framework within the organization. Your primary focus will be to work collaboratively with various departments and teams, including Business, IT, Compliance, and Infosec, to ensure the successful establishment and adherence to data governance principles and practices. You will be responsible for creating, updating, and enforcing data governance policies, standards, and procedures, as well as implementing the data lifecycle processes. Additionally, you will design a data literacy learning path to foster a data-driven culture and establish metrics to measure the effectiveness of the data governance framework.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with the Data Governance team to implement and enhance the Data Governance framework, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance requirements.

Create, update, and communicate data governance policies and standards, establishing best practices for data management and ensuring data security, privacy, and compliance.

Oversee the implementation of data lifecycle management processes, including data acquisition, storage, usage, retention, and disposal, to promote data quality and compliance.

Design and develop a comprehensive data literacy learning path for employees across the organization to enhance their understanding of data governance principles, data handling, and data-driven decision-making.

Build and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess the effectiveness of the data governance framework, providing insights to stakeholders (compliance, data quality, and overall data health) and supporting data-driven decision-making.

Collaborate closely with Business, IT, Compliance and Infosec teams to integrate data governance initiatives seamlessly and promote a collaborative data governance culture.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or higher, preferably in quantitative area, professional financial designation, or MBA

3 to 5 years of relevant experience in data governance, data management, or data quality roles within the banking industry or a similar domain.

Demonstrated understanding of data governance principles, data management practices, and compliance requirements.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify data governance challenges and develop effective solutions.

Familiarity with data management tools and technologies, metadata management, data lineage and data quality.

Familiarity with the Collibra Data Governance Center and its functionalities to support data governance activities efficiently.

Excellent communication, teamwork, coordination, and consensus building skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and promote data governance awareness throughout the organization.

Proficient in both written and spoken English and French to facilitate communication within a bilingual work environment.

Strong understanding of industry recognized DG frameworks, e.g. DAMA, DCAM, TDWI\xe2\x80\x99s DG
