Children's Treatment Network (CTN) supports over 39,000 kids and youth with disabilities and other developmental needs. What You Will Do:
CTN is looking for a permanent, full-time Data Engineer who will be responsible for the development and execution of business intelligence data and reporting products that support data driven decision making and ongoing operations at CTN. This position reports to the Manager, Applications and Data Systems.
Responsibilities:
The successful incumbent will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
Business Intelligence Development
Develop and maintain an expert understanding of CTN's data sources and the business meaning of data
In collaboration with the Quality, Measurement, and Evaluation team (QME), gather requirements from various internal stakeholders
Architect, design, and develop database views, tables, stored procedures, and other backend components
Develop SSIS packages to automate the extract, translate, and load (ETL) process
Design and deliver data models that support routine reporting, dashboards, scorecards, with drill-down and/or drill through options
Develop automated routine reporting mechanisms
Respond to ad hoc data and report requests
Utilize strong change management principles to safely implement enhancements and deploy products
Develop PowerBI and SSRS reports and provide development support to QME team
Business Intelligence Maintenance
Monitor and improve BI system performance
Develop and maintain automated process logging and error checking
Investigate and correct, or recommend remediation for, data quality concerns and other data issues
Update data structures to reflect CTN's evolving business
Conduct routine maintenance tasks
Database Management Systems (DBMS)
Advise the information technology team regarding maintenance, and support of internally hosted DBMS
Create DBMS maintenance plans to support smooth database operations
In collaboration with the information technology team, manage database security and access, and ensure that DB backup and recovery plans are in place and tested
Investigate and resolve DBMS issues and performance problems
Set, maintain, and adhere to database standards
Leadership and Planning
Develop BI work plans in alignment with the operational goals and strategic direction for the organization
Understand business needs and challenges to inform and envision BI solutions
Ensure that departmental work plans align with business requirements and are met within agreed timelines
Ensure that client information privacy and security is first and foremost in the design of, and improvements to BI products
Remain up to date with relevant BI technologies and best practices
Share SQL and data expertise with other CTN staff
What We Need:
A minimum of university degree in computer science or information management is required or equivalent experience
A minimum of five (5) years of related business intelligence experience, preferably in a healthcare or social services environment is required
Expert skills using the Microsoft SQL Server Business Intelligence development suite (T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSMS, Visual Studio, PowerBI)
Experience with Webfocus report product is an asset
Experience delivering data and reports that support business processes and data-driven decision making
Advanced skills in the use of Excel and Microsoft Office
Demonstrated understanding of Ontario's Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and the impact on CTN
Strong organizational skills in the use of time, and the ability to prioritize work including the prioritization of the BI work plan
Demonstrated ability to work independently and accurately in the presence of frequent interruptions and requests for assistance
Ability to work flexible hours in support of requirements that may fall outside of the typical work hour framework
Demonstrated commitment to a safe environment for staff, clients and families by working in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and related policies
Selected Successful Candidate Will Be Required To:
Produce a clear police record check with a vulnerable sector check prior to start of employment
Be able to travel to assigned office, between CTN sites and/or other locations as required
Maintain the ability to work effectively in a temporary hybrid environment and have access to appropriate internet capacity
