Role Summary:

Digital Business Automation Services seeks a Data Engineer, with 5+ years of data analytics and process mining skills to join the team within Service Delivery.

The Data Engineer provides business information analytics services such as business intelligence, key performance metrics, business research analysis, and dashboards/scorecards to the Digital Business Automation Services management team and business units. This role will be a specialized role focused on supporting the senior leadership with insights, management reports, and analysis for decision-making process.

The successful candidate will be multi-skilled and adaptable with excellent communication skills, proven data analytics experience and strong business process analysis skills.

What will you do?

  • Data discovery \xe2\x80\x93 i.e. scoping new data sources, understanding, and leveraging current data sources for revenue generation, cost savings and client insights
  • Visual presentation of data \xe2\x80\x93 i.e. the ability to translate numerical output into effective visual illustrations for management and clients
  • Interpret and analyze processes and workflows to recommend improvements.
  • Acting as a go-to-person for end users and management to interpret and use information.
  • Understand and collaborate with business process SMEs and Business process owners to understand the business processes being mined.
  • Translating business needs into analytics/reporting requirements to support executive decisions and workflows with required information.
  • Developing and building frameworks and processes to analyze unstructured data as well as data from traditional sources.
  • Working closely with information managers, architects, and business units for knowledge sharing, mentoring, and training
What you need to succeed:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • 5+ years IT experience preferably with a degree in Mathematics, management information systems, or related technology degree/diploma
  • More than five years of experience as a Data Engineer, business intelligence analyst, Process Mining analyst, financial analyst, or equivalent roles
  • Experience with consumer-level data for the purposes of analysis, reporting, and/or marketing
  • Expert in process mining, data mining and unstructured information analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communications with the ability to collaborate with business SMEs to understand the business processes.
  • Ability to promote the data analytics needs within the department and generate insights from information.
  • Ability to work independently as well as being a strong team player with the ability to work effectively in a multi-site environment.
  • Competent in information taxonomy creation, information visualization, information modeling, and data warehousing techniques
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle several tasks efficiently.
Required Skills:
  • Strong business process analysis skills and requirements gathering.
  • Coding experience with SQL
  • Coding experience with Python is highly preferred. Alternative coding experience will also be considered.
  • Data analysis and visualization with Tableau, Power BI, and other data analysis tools
Asset Skills:
  • Process Mining tools. Otherwise, training on our selected process mining tool will be provided!
  • Experience/understanding with Document Management and Data Capture technologies.
  • Knowledge of Change Management processes

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
