The Opportunity at Volta Charging

Our Data Science and Artificial Intelligence team powers the forecasting and advanced analytics that drives both our business decisions and some of our most innovative products. You will play a key role in driving data for our Data Science and AI product development efforts - these products serve both internal and external customers.

You\'ll own writing new data pipelines for incoming raw data, writing new data pipelines for derived metrics and analytics. You\'ll work cross functionally with Data Scientists to operationalize code and to resolve data issues; and with business teams to support reporting.

You\'ll be working to consistently improve our award-winning PredictEV product, a tool that helps Volta forecast geo specific charger utilization growth and capacity requirements. Volta uses these insights for our own planning and investments, and also to help governments, utilities, and policymakers with infrastructure planning of their own.

Where you fit in:

• Develop data-driven algorithms used in both internal software systems and customer facing software products.
• Be an internal data science resource for teams within Volta seeking data-driven insights.

What we need from you:

• Bachelor\'s Degree
• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering or practical software engineering experience in related fields
• Mathematical fundamentals, including: linear algebra and vector calculus
• Experience implementing this math effectively in software (Python, numpy, C++, etc.)
• 3+ years\' hands-on experience (industrial and/or academic research) in supporting the development of or implementing Machine Learning models
• Experience working in a Linux environment
• Basic Git knowledge: creating and merging branches, cherry-picking commits, examining the diff between two hashes
• Geospatial data experience is a plus

What you will accomplish:

Within 90 Days:

• You will be providing trustworthy data and data pipelines that are being used to maintain and improve our internal software systems and customer facing software products
• You will have established data testing protocols and reporting capabilities, and QA/QC procedures for all data sources.

Within 12 Months:

• You will be contributing to system architecture design facilitating ML model development and deployment
• You will support database growth and new clients for our internal and external facing products
